Whore

Part One

In the corridors of power
They drop their drawers for kings
Paramours as courtesans
Arbitrary lovers
Force-fed through families
Fodder for princes
Princes munching on the royal mulch
Made of female parts
Regal milkmaids
Milking it
Poor cows
Though rich.

Part Two

A hundred years of whoredom this madam
Streetwalking threadbare
The bejewelled corridors
Of her own red carpet district
Her right royal punters
Subjected to taxes of such uncivility
So she may reign down acidly
Shining down brassily
Shirley Bassily
A glorious joke
In baroque Edwardian splendour
Sadly not the last of the great big spenders.

She may also be found
Queering the pitch at her other patch
Ceremoniously parading her wares
Arrogantly staggering
And immorally soliciting the Mall
Ostentatiously looking after the family business

Or perhaps the Cenotaph
At her most insidious
Getting her Brittanias out for the lads
Dead lads
Dead lads and Dads
This vermin in Ermine
Sheds snakeskin tears for
That collect inside the hollows of her crocodile shoes
Whose families she still charges unremittingly
As she rots expensively
Replacing hip after hip
In this tired old joint
Dancing decadently
On the graves of the brave soldiers
They sold down the swannee
Stinking of booze
And singing
Those blue-bloodied hangdog sax-coberg blues.

So magnificent in her finery
Diamonds mined by slaves
The blood of colonised culture
Soaked in every ruby
The bold souls of workers
Trapped within the amber of her jewellery
Shimmering, glittering,
Glamorous, proud

How can such a frail old neck
Hold the weight of misery
Residing in her crown.

But for personal services
At her palatial bordellos
My dear fellows
You must pay more
For a private audience
With Elizabeth Bowes Liar
The Vice Queen,
Ice Queen, not nice Queen Mother
A woman with all the attributes of a prostitute
Without the honesty of a whore
The attributes of a prostitute
Without the dignity of a whore.

Part Three

In the gas black light of cities
They have dropped their drawers for kings
Harlots whose shenanigans
Have caused anarchy in circles
Far wider than the streets they have walked
Streets they have been
Stalked, raped and killed in
Yes, killed in
Or conveniently disappeared in
Just for making a living.
